Heard the Lookout Rd. was closed.
We then hiked through Hual-Cu-Cuish & Milk Ranch Rd, then to Azalea Spring Fire Rd. to Conejos Trail, where we found ourselves on moderately switchbacks, uneven rocky trail, overgrown greeneries, up until meeting the Lookout Rd…which means another half a mile so tough climb to the top! Met two hikers on the summit & told us that the Lookout Rd was actually open. We then decided to take it on our way down up until Azalea Spring Fire Rd. then back through Milk Ranch Rd. We started around 1730ish & finished a little after 3 hours. We logged 8.5 miles out & back. We're not fond of hiking in the dark, so, we no longer waited for the sunset up in the summit. Instead, it met us half way down while on Azalea Spring Fire Rd. What a beautiful sight! The last mile or so, we literally jogged…just for fun & perhaps testing our endurance, hahaha. With those being said, the hike was magical with the sunsetting & the popping of the bright moon!
