Such a beautiful hike. This was my first time doing Cuyamaca Peak. The trail started off nice and easy. We took the Azalea Glen Loop to make the hike a little longer and to have better views. This route did not disappoint. We hiked along a stream for awhile before we started our climb towards the peak. Once we started our climb the trail got a little icy and still had snow from the most recent storm. We trekked for awhile, but eventually had to put on our spikes. Once we connected with the fire road we were on our final climb. We needed to keep the spikes on because of snow and black ice on the road. Once reaching the summit the views were glorious. The trip down was shorter as we took the fire road back down. Total trip was approximately 8 miles. Awesome hike!!
