I was thinking. Mt. Baden Powell is one of the alternate for six peaks challenge. Since, I'm doing the six peaks challenge why not do them all ??. Making it to eight peaks challenge ??.
The Hike:
▪Started hiking at 0600. I was supposed to start at 0500 but my headache was a little bit crazy. So, I hiked Mt. Baden Powell with a headache and not feeling well. Once, I started my hike. My headache eventually went away that was a good sign. I didn't want to get it worse at the top. Anyhow, the trails were well maintained, no cut back of the switchbacks. Easy to follow (Well, it's the PCT trail anyway). The trail start off from Vincent Gulch Divide, I started at that trail. (There is another trails to start off to go up to the peak.) Anyway, the switchbacks. Its fairly easy. Steady inclined. Thats what I liked about it. With all those switchbacks, after 7,800 almost to 8,000 feet. I started seeing patches of icy snows. But no need for crampons or microspikes yet. After the 3 miles marked. Some area are just too slippery. So, since I had my crampons and microspikes why not. I used my BD crampons and tested it out for the first time. I had fun using it. It was better than my microspikes?✌. Finally, reached the summit at 0845. And stayed at the top for 45 mins to see the beautiful landscapes. It was so nice. I didn't want to leave. The sky was so clear, a little windy but bearable. I enjoyed my time at the summit. I think I enjoyed it too much since I was the first person to summit for the day ??. Started my way down and got back to my car at 1100.
