Diamond Peak was a beast! A tough hike, but you can say it was the best day and the worst day ever. It was a steady climb up; hiking a portion of the PCT; we only saw 2 hikers the whole time. It was a steep climb through 1.5 miles of loose scree and slippery terrain to reach the false summit. You'll need your hands free to maneuver through the boulder field and along the huge rock spires. You will then follow the spine path that finally leads you to the true summit! The hike down was a little nerve wracking, sometimes it was like scree surfing, kind of fun, but we all fell at least once. For the most part we made it back unscathed! The drive there was long, but the drive home was even longer because we got lost in the dark on the forest roads. It was about 3.5 hours of driving on horrible road conditions, huge potholes, deeply rutted (our car took a beating)…. Unfortunately, we somehow made a wrong turn somewhere, we wish directions would have been more clear.

The drive was definitely the worst. The hiking company was the best! And we survived!!!
