Hit this hike after Woodson in the AM. Parking was open and you walk in off of the road to a nice, artistic opening to the trail head. Lucky for me there was a clean porto-potty right at the start. If you gotta go, this is your last chance for some privacy the entire hike. Hike is mostly a fire road with one option to turn off and hike a separate trail that reconnects with the fire road, prior to the summit. We hiked straight up the fire road to the summit and took the turn off trail on the way down (For us this was a mistake because we were pooped. It was more of a single track and had lots of steps built in. Cool trail but we were burned out.) There was a decent amount of shade in the beginning and then about three quarters of the way up. Trail is well trimmed and I did not see any poison oak on the fire road. We had hiked earlier in the day and were excited for a medium difficulty, quick trail. This was exactly that. The summit has 360 degrees and there are several signs in the park telling you about animals and other trails. Overall a well maintained hiking area with minimal people.
