Probably picked the wrong day to hike this one (but absolutely grateful for my friend who joined me on this drenching adventure!) It was pretty much raining the entire time.
We started at the Mt Saint Helena trailhead. We were the first in the little parking lot so no issues with finding a spot. Got there around 8:30ish am.
Started hiking around 8:45 am after pondering a bit if it’s worth waiting for the rain to lighten up.
The trail up to the fire road was cool, especially in the rain, with little streams and tiny waterfalls.
The fire road wasn’t as amusing as we had no views because of thick fog and rain. There were quite a few fallen trees that looked like could’ve burnt in some fire. One hillside looked all like death and despair but there were a ton of little baby evergreen trees growing to life.
Reached the summit at ~11:20 am. The east side of the valley looked like it was clearing up only to fool us for a bit with a pretty rainbow.
Clouds started rolling again so we made our way back down.
Rained all the way down, met a few hikers who were hiking up who seemed to be enjoying the rain as much as we were 😉
The last part after the fire road was like walking through a little stream, water flowing on the trail all the way with us. I enjoyed walking through the little water puddles.
Reached down at ~1:45 pm. Total 5 hours round trip. Would definitely love to go back on a clear day and maybe if the peak gets any snow.
