I was planning for the Hot Springs Mountain Trail where the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation is located. When I drove to the gate, I was told that it was closed to the public for a reserved event. I was so disappointed, but I had to turn away.
The gatekeeper was very nice and pointed me to a nearby hiking trail – Eagle Rock trail, part of PCT. It was only a little bit past nine clocks, then I dropped by the Eagle Rock trail which turned out pretty pleasant hike, only 6.8 miles, and most part was under nice shade. A very cool stone formation at the destination, which is quite like an eagle with its wings wide open. I took some pictures and also climbed up the rock for fun.
When I was back to my car from the Eagle Rock trail, it was only one o'clock. To another 6-peak it's only 30 minutes driving. I checked that trail, Volcan Mountain Trail, is less than 5 miles. I figured that I could easily complete that hike before it got dark.
Then, I made it, indeed, a very easy one with a nice view along the hike, which is on the other side of Julian. Apple orchard, horse ranch, and farm house around the mountain, also vine yard. Nice and peaceful countryside view.
