I started early this morning and left the trailhead at Manker Flats at 5:30am. I went up the Devil's Backbone trail and down Ski Hut. The way up was pleasantly cool and uncrowded. I loved the beautiful views from almost every part of the trail. I only encountered a few people on my way up and even had the summit to myself for a short time. There are patches of snow at the top but none on the trail. There was no wind at the summit when I was there around 8:30am. The hike down was crowded and increasingly hot as I got lower in elevation. Also, the Ski Hut trail is super slippery, so beware if you descend that route. I have solid shoes and poles and still had issues with slipping.
