We started hiking at 8:30. The weather was clear and sunny with temps in the 40s-50s. We made the quick trek up to Mount Pinos in half an hour before we started making the descent down Pinos’ steep back side. After this descent we made the gradual climb til we eventually summited Sawmill. We made it there just before 10 before turning back. The worst part was on the way back when we had to hike up the steep backside back towards Pinos. We finished a little after 11.
Overall the hike was very easy compared to some of the other hikes in this challenge, and it was a great way to finish the six pack. You get awesome views of the Central Valley to the north and the Topa Topas to the south throughout the hike. The weather was also perfect as all the snow from last month was pretty much gone.
