This hike is deserving of its reputation. Hands down, the toughest hike I have ever done! So many steep ascents and descents, my muscles were aching by the time I reached the halfway point stop sign. By the time I thought I had reached the summit, I realized I had another mile to go. That was the toughest mile of my life! The weather was nice–not too hot. I can't imagine doing this hike in the summer. Hung out at the top for about half an hour, then headed back down. I made it back to the parking lot just as the gates were about to close! This was the last hike to complete the trail challenge and I celebrated by treating myself to a takeout dinner.
