This trail exceed all my expectations. It is a beautiful trail and I absolutely loved it. Views were great and I so appreciated how well marked it was!
Don't let the tiny elevation fool you. This is a challenging hike. It was a sunny 72 degree day and it felt much warmer. I would not want to do this in the summer months! When we parked at approx. 6:30 am, it was about 40 degrees but it quickly warmed up by about 8. Please know, the parking area does not open until 8am. Plan to park on the street if coming earlier.
If this hike was closer to home, I would definitely go back! It would be a great trail to get one ready for any big hike you have on your bucket list. Alltrails mentioned that it is a trail that is uphill both ways. This is true! With steep ups and steep downs, you have to be just as prepared for a hard hike back after you summit.
I think poles are a great help to save the knees on this hike. I typically do not need poles but I was kicking myself for not bringing them. Luckily, my sister-in-law shared one of hers for the hike back to car as many areas can be slippery due to the loose gravel.
Even though this hike was challenging, I really loved it!
