I tried to hike Sawmill Mountain back on May 11, 2024.  With the amount of snow covering the switchbacks I couldn't do it.  A month later, the snow is gone.  It was a beautiful, sunny and windy day hiking through the enchanted forest.  When I reached to the summit, the view was so spectacular that I was able to see the snow cap mountains of the Sequoias!  I met an 82 year old man named Phil who reached the summit without the used of trekking poles!  He has prostate cancer.  He has knee issues, but he didn't used any of his knee braces!  He made it back to the trailhead with no health nor knee issues!  The Chumash Wilderness has magical healing energies.  A few years back, Phil hung a prayer flag on the giant cairn that I was fortunate enough to have seen them.  I showed him the photos of my past hike to the summit with the prayer flags hung on the giant cairn.
