This was a hike we started a little later than we planned, but we were enjoying the walk and all of the opportunities to take photos. When we realized we didn’t have our headlamps we picked up our pace and hiked as quickly down as we could so we could get off the lava flow before it got dark. We started at 5:15pm and made it back to the parking lot at 8:39pm.
We were able to see the fires 🔥 off in the west and watch the clear day turn into a beautiful sunset from the smoke. On the drive back we were able to see falling stars. It was a wonderful evening with friends.
