We arrived at the Ice House Canyon Trailhead at 7:15 AM on Saturday morning and as expected, the parking lot was full. We found parking on the road 1/4 mile down the parking lot.

For the first 1.5 – 2 miles, the trail is heavily shaded by trees and goes alongside a stream. It was nice to see early fall foliage on the ground. After entering Cucamonga wilderness, the trail continues to get steeper until Icehouse saddle.

Icehouse saddle is a nice place to take a break. There are trails leading up to Timber mountain, Telegraph peak, Thunder mountain, Ontario peak and Cucamonga peak from Icehouse saddle. The trail to Cucamonga peak starts out flat and descends before the steep incline that leads it to the top.

The views from the peak are outstanding. We spent an hour at the top before heading back. We were back at the starting point 13.5 miles later at 3:30 PM.
