Beautiful challenging hike. The hike is deceptively easy until the saddle. The saddle is a beautiful view and a good place to stop for lunch because you will need the energy for the last leg of the hike. Past the saddle is rock scrambling and numerous false summits. The altitude is also challenging and headaches were a common result from it. The trail has a lot of exposed roots and loose rocks, be mindful of your footing. Although difficult, the hike is very rewarding with amazing views, especially now that there is fall foliage below.
As an extra bonus, my hike ended with a herd of deer grazing at the trail head as the sun set behind the mountains behind them.
ps hiking poles were extremely helpful coming down the rock scrambling – provided stability.
