Cucamonga Peak was the first of our training hikes for Whitney from the Six Pack . It's a tough hike! We were convinced it's longer than the 11.6 miles shown on the websites 😉 We got lucky with the weather, high 60's and clear, there was no snow on the trail. The trail is steep and some areas were a little sketchy (very thin paths on the hillside). The top was crowded, but the main trail wasn't. I got a peek of a mountain lion which was scary in the rock caves after the first saddle. This hike was motivation to complete the remaining 5 peaks and I'm getting really excited for Mt. Whitney in late June. We did this hike with our very outdoorsy friend who's moving to Utah for a job, hence the name, Farewell Fernando 🙂
