This was a stunning 8.8 mile loop that starts off strong with 3 miles of rolling waterfalls and a supercharged river alongside the trail. There are several river crossings where I hopped rocks to stay on course- one right in front of a beautiful big fall. Levels and levels of stone stairs and slippery rock kept me on my toes. Trekking in and out of deep fern covered forest led me to the alpine zone (oh, the smell! 😍) just before reaching the summit of Little Haystack.

Here I started the trek along the ridge line towards Mt. Lincoln, about .7 miles ahead. Despite the overcast and mild fog at this point, the views were stunning.

Next up on the trail came Mt. Lafayette, .9 miles ahead. The clouds rolled in thick and heavy shortly before reaching the summit, so the view was a whiteout, which means I just have to come back and do it again!

Overall a top favorite trail of mine. Because of the rain the days prior, the waterfalls were flowing heavily. But this came with the cost of everything being very slippery. I took two falls on the descent and left the park decorated in mud. But it was worth it.

4 down, 2 to go. What should I do next?!
