Another really hot day but an interesting hike. I finally drove past the former site of Neverland Ranch (hence the name of this entry) which is very close to the trailhead. Here are a few things to consider: Google Maps still says this trail is closed for some reason and it was almost impossible to navigate the Midland School’s site to get a permit in advance. Also, hiking poles and proper footwear are highly recommended to make it all the way to the summit (of which I had neither but regret). The hike was very exposed but pretty straightforward until you get to the final push to the top: this was quite the challenge and slowed me down. The last stretch is very exposed, steep, and rocky. However, the views are awesome up here and I loved the grass, the sound of the wind, and grasshoppers everywhere. I just missed the wildflowers although there were a few here and there. The top is very anticlimactic to be honest and not really worth the final push. I only saw a few people while I was out here including a woman that saw me coming down and decided not to summit because of the steepness. This hike is surprisingly challenging and I’m not sure I’d do it again unless it was peak wildflower season.
