A fitting finale to my New England Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge. It was a cool, breezy day that reminded me that fall is just around the corner. The trail up was beautiful, winding alongside Champney Brook.
We took the optional spur along the falls, which are still running and beautiful.
The trail gets rocky, but nothing too crazy. Once on the ridge, you begin scrambling over granite. At on point I lost the trail. As I climbed higher I spied a cairn and rejoined the route.
There are yellow blazes painted on the rock to help, but some are very faded, so take your time to stay on course.
The summit was busy but not crowded, and very windy. Stayed up top for 5-10 minutes, then headed down.
Stopped at Cheese Louise for lunch.
So far in 2022 I’ve completed the Central Oregon and New England challenges, plus four peaks in the Las Vegas challenge. They have all been challenging and very different experiences, and a lot of fun.
