We started at 5:30am at Mt. Wilson Trailhead. The first 1.5 miles of the trail is a steady incline and exposed. It’s good to start the hike early to avoid the heat. About 2 miles in, the trail turns into a shaded hike in the woods with tall pine trees. As we are hiking up, the views of the Angeles National Forest is beautiful. The 7 miles hike up to the summit isn’t too difficult as we take out time resting and hydrating. The trail is not crowded at all which makes it easy not having to wear face covering until we see other hikers passing by. The incline is mostly gradual with some spots that are steep and slippery. It is a good first peak experience minus the mosquitoes and biting flies.
