It was a beautiful morning to start our hike up Old Speck Trail. This was the first time hiking this peak and have wanted to for the longest time. I’d consider doing overnights at a Speck Pond with others I know that want to summit Old Speck for their Six Pack of Peaks: New England Challenge. We took a quick break for lunch and then continued our hike up Old Speck Trail(Appalachian Trail South) then to the Summit. Weather and trails were perfect. There were a number of hikers on the trail. Had several water sources if needed. Didn’t see much wildlife on the way up but saw some on the way back from summit via the Appalachian Trail North. Definitely a hard and challenging hike but was worth it. With beautiful 360 views once you climbed the fire tower at summit.
