Bear Mountain, Round Mountain, Mount Frissell and Brace Mountain:

It was a beautiful morning to start my hike up Under Mountain Trail. I decided that I would challenge myself and do a harder hike tackling multiple peaks through three states in the process. I start doing a clockwise 11.4 mile loop with last peak being Bear Mountain. I hit Brace Mountain(NY), Mount Frissell(MA), Round Mountain(CT) and finally Bear Mountain(CT). It was a hard hike but was worth the extra miles and push to the finish. There was an AMC Shelter one can reserve, as well as the Riga Shelter or Brassie Brook Shelter along the Appalachian Trail that are suitable for overnight backpacking trips. I may consider doing overnights at a shelter with others I know that want to summit Bear Mountain for their Six Pack of Peaks: New England Challenge. Weather and trails were perfect. There weren’t too many out on the trails this trip but looking forward to returning back another time. Definitely a challenging hike but was worth it.
