Mount Greylock:
Date: 5/4/2024
Start: 12:05pm
End: 5:45pm
Miles: 8.5 miles
It was a beautiful afternoon to start our hike up Gould Trail. We decided that we would challenge ourselves. We would do a harder and a different trail that I had not done before. Followed Gould Trail up to Pecks Brook Shelter Trail where we stopped for a late lunch. Definitely a nice shelter suitable for overnight backpacking trips with a view and flowing Pecks Brook nearby for water resupply. I’d consider doing overnights at a shelter with others I know that want to summit Mount Greylock for their Six Pack of Peaks: New England Challenge. We continued our hike up Gould Trail to the Appalachian Trail North then to the Summit. We originally were going to do just the Gould Trail and opted to do additional trails after have reached summit. We hiked down from summit via the Appalachian Trail South to see the Rockwell Pond, headed back up to the road reconnecting with Gould Trail down to Pecks Brook Trail, Cheshire Harbor Trail, Brookside Trail and then back to Gould Trail back to the parking lot.
Weather and trails were perfect. There were a number of hikers out on the trails. Definitely a challenging hike but was worth it.
