We started for the goal of a sunrise hike, hoping to hike through the dark and rain to clear and get a break at sunrise. No luck there, but it did clear up and the hike back was magical. Weaving through lava rock in a massive open field. Very unique. The treck was just straight up when you got to the butte so we found piles helpful in the sand. Honestly, don’t bring dogs or do this in any type of heat. I will say though, fun experience getting soaked and memories to last forever.
