The trail from Icehouse to the saddle was good, you get snow within 1mile of the trail due to the recent weather. But beyond that into the minor saddle before the climb to the peak, it was terrible to cross. The snow was powder with some patches of ice all the way. At some parts, the snow piled up deeper than my ice axe. The fresh powder made it super difficult to cross, I had to self-arrest a few times to prevent sliding off the steep snow slope. I was alone up on the peak, and saw just one other person taking the same trail I did.
Crampons and gaiters definitely highly recommended. The snow got really deep.
