Four of us started our adventure at 7:30 a.m. There was no morning fog layer so it was hotter than we had hoped for throughout but luckily there was a lot of shade on our route. We took the Matt Davis trail up to Pantoll and stopped for a snack and restroom break at this 3.7 mile mark. Then we hopped on the Old Stage Road up to the West Point Inn. We followed the dirt road around the left/back of the Inn all the way up to the East Peak parking area and then took the Plank Walk trail to the top, where we found a shady spot for a well deserved lunch. I would say the last bit on the Plank Walk trail was the most challenging for me with the rock scrambling, the full sun exposure and needing more nutrition in my body.
We returned to our cars via the same route. We were still smiling at the end! So many gorgeous views.
