We hiked up the Mitchell Canyon Fire Road to the Juniper Trail to the Summit Trail and returned the same way.

We began at 8 when the lot opened; they do charge a $6 fee to park. We were back at our cars at 2:40.

We were pleased it was not too hot, and there was a pleasant breeze in parts.  The views at the summit were fabulous, and the ice cream bar I purchased at the visitor center was a nice reward!

Most hikers must take the alternate path to the summit as we encountered no others except on horseback.  We were disappointed with the lack of signage on our route…we went miles between updates.  Still a lovely day on the trails!
