On a little staycation with my wife this weekend and we decided to Summit Mount Saint Helena. It was the first hike we both had done together a few years ago, when we were just friends. Now, we're married and it felt great returning to the place that only made me fall more in love with her.
It was a perfect day — a bit chilly in the morning start, but comfortably warm in the later hours.
The trail was a lot more packed than I had ever seen it, and I have been coming here for years. When we got to the summit there were probably about 10+ people all hanging out in different parts of the peak. Again, the most I had EVER seen at the same time here.
I noticed a pair of hikers rocking their 2025 SF Bay Area Six Pack badges — Which then reminded me I still needed to register [which I did just now.]
We took some pictures, ate a snack, then finally decided to make our descent. We opted for following the fire road all the way this time, which I had never even done while hiking here solo, so It was a nice change.
2 peaks down, 4 to go. But, if Berryessa Peak finally gets repaired this year, I just may go for all 9 this time. 8 of 9 completed last year.
