Wednesday January 31, 2018- My husband and I woke up in Sierra Madre California to a beautiful “Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse” absolutely amazing! After the staring at the moon we drove to Chantry Flats to start our ascend to Mt. Wilson. The hike up was surprisingly beautiful with little enchanted cabins along the way. The slight detour to the bottom of the Sturtevant waterfall was well worth it. After passing Sturtevant Camp we started feeling the steepness of the trek so we stopped and had a snack. When we reached the top at 5,710ft we enjoyed the grandness of the telescopes, observatories and views of Los Angeles. Descending to the bottom we began to see the fire damage from Oct. 2017, nature is strong and the plants are beginning to grow again. We saw our first hikers on the trail after mile 8. After missing our turn and taking a longer trail back and still finding the parking lot with relief, we attended to tired feet then checked out the donkeys, goats and sheep at the Adams Pack Station. We even made it back to San Diego without any traffic. Great day of hiking with a great hiking partner.
