Note that you need to park outside of the Volcan Mountain Reserve on the street. There are apple orchards around the reserve as you walk to the start of the trailhead. The incline starts right away through beautiful oak tree forest. As you reach the top, you see the remains of the observatory they were going to build here and a telescope to see the peaks in the distance. At the top, there is a old light tower with a picnic bench to sit. The peak marker is around the tower that sits on a cement cylinder. It was cloudy at the top so no views of the other mountains to see. So, it was a short stay at the top and made it back down before sunset.
