Last year for the Six Pack of Peaks we hiked San Jacinto via Marion and Deer Springs. This year decided to check out the the route from the Tram. A round trip was a little over 11 miles with 3000 elevation gain. We filled out the self issued permit, got map and spoke to Rangers about the current conditions. For some reason they indicated we would not be able to make it all the way to the top. We told them we would go as far as we could without getting in trouble and turn around if needed. Trail conditions were rather good. Some snow from the last storm about a week ago. Trail had signs on all intersections/turns. We stopped for a break at Wellmans Devide. Since the temps were freezing we trekked on. Once on top we took few photos and started back. The gusty winds were at times hard to take. Wearing 5 layers of clothing was super helpful.
