After dealing with bugs the past two times I've done this hike, I suggested we get Mount Wilson done with before it got any warmer. We started the hike late, around 0800. By this time the main parking lot was filled up and we had to park downhill about 10 minutes walking distance. We began our hike on the Gabrieleno Trail and spent time in the riverbed looking for the Geocache with much success. Moving onto Spruce Grove campground we found our second Geocache of the day. Upon reaching Sturtevant Camp we stopped and took a break and went on the swing. Continuing on the Sturtevant trail we pushed forward through the switchbacks all the way to the summit. Unfortunately, Cosmic Cafe was closed due to fires (and the season…) We checked out the burn area near the parking lot and then proceeded down Mount Wilson Trail and found our third Geocache. When we reached The Bench we took a break to find our 4th and final Geocache. It was a bit difficult because the directions weren't very specific but we eventually found it. (No hints. ;P ) By this time it was almost 4 and we needed to get back to the car before they closed the gates. We followed the Winter Creek Trail all the way back to the trail head, walked to our car, and went home after a successful day.
