My first peak for the challenge, and it was a beautiful day for it. I did this hike 12 weeks postpartum and while the uphill was challenging, it was still very doable! Since my body was out of shape there were moments when I wasn't sure I “felt” like continuing. But I pushed past my quiting points, paced myself and kept going. Sure enough about halfway up I acclimated and felt much better, and the views pretty much the whole way up were spectacular!
When we got maybe half a mile from the top it got steep again, and the trail is a bit more rocky toward the top. Still very manageable as long as you're watching your footing.
I was hiking with 2 friends and a giant English Mastiff who also had a great time.
I will definitely be doing this hike again. It only took us 3 hours and 15 minutes, so not too long. It was sunny and beautiful but the wind was freezing cold. What I like is that it's just enough of a challenge to push your limits of you're trying to get into shape, but not so daunting that you want to quit.
