This hike was the longest one I've done to date- it was a beautiful hike but i definetly went the longest way possible on accident. again. its a 5 mile hike from the fire station by stinson beach to the muir woods center. from there i took the sun trail to the redwood trail to the panoramic trail leading up to the upper fern trail to the summit. it was a beautiful hike all the way. i tried to run as much of it as i could at the beginning but once you get to the upper fern trail it is quite steep so be careful. i think there is a shorter way to get there but i was alone and a little scared so i didn't wanna get lost in the woods by trying to shorten it. at the muir woods center you can get a free map of the woods so it made it a little easier. very very foggy the first half of the trail which made it seem almost magical- the last half was very sunny – so make sure you are wearing sunscreen ! the whole thing ended up being about 10 hs and 29ish miles or so back to stinson beach. definitely have to go back again and try the other trails to get there. beautiful scenery all the way- there is a place to fill your water once you get to the summit- oh yeah and there are ALOT of steps on the first half of the hike so be prepared!
