We started at about 8:45 AM. There were a ton of vehicles but not too many people on the trail towards the beginning.
My partner and I last completed Mt Baldy a few years ago when I was training for Mt. Kilimanjaro—I remembered it being quite a difficult trek at the time. This time we are training for Everest Base Camp /2 passes. Last week Cucamonga Peak was tiresome for me so I expected Baldy to be similar. To my surprise I had so much energy this past weekend and Baldy was wonderful. I adjusted well to the altitude and kept my endurance.
During the last part of the climb it was quite windy and cold at the top. We stayed at the top for about 30 minutes to eat our sandwiches and take in the view. Sitting near the rocks to block the wind was a lifesaver.
While coming down a man named Dave stopped us and told us to go to “Claremont Ice Cream” for delicious ice cream and you receive 10% off by mentioning his name—so we did so and it was yummy!
We also stopped at the bottom of the waterfall and enjoyed putting our feet and hands in the fresh water.
A helicopter kept circling around the area/top of mountain. We learned the following day that there was a search for a fellow hiker/actor that went missing in January. RIP Julian Sands.
