Oh say can you see
On steep San B
Switchbacks for you
Switchbacks for me!
So many switchbacks
And they were steep!
We were going at a steady creep!
Andrea my hike protegee had never been
Me just once I think in 2017.
I wanted to take her up Forsee Creek way
But there had been massive flash floods
In the area to my dismay.
At least there were not many fallen trees
Unlike the Dollar Lake swutchbacks on San G!
This hike I gave Andrea advice
Trying to be somewhat firm but very very nice.
Coming down she got ahead and out of sight.
I searched for her with all my might.
I ran down the trail
But could not see
Any sight of anyone but me!
I thought I heard her call my name
Though no one from where I thought it came.
I continued my run on the empty trail
Looking and looking to no avail.
I ran into one guy hiking up cheerily.
He saw people we had seen on the way
But not my friend – so I knew she was behind me.
I asked if he minded if I joined him
And a few minutes later who did we see?
Andrea my friend – yay hip hip horeee!
She was limping; she told me she got off trail.
And then when she found it, she slipped
And pulled her hamstring.
I had a long talk with her
About staying together.
And was glad it was still light and good weather.
She said she texted me
I could not believe it
I never get service in the mtns
And again could not believe it!
I was determined to hike out in the light
And luckily on the switchbacks down
We could a bit take flight.
Amdrea's hamstring pull still has not fully healed
Amd she's traveling again afoot and afield.
Going to do Sitton and Cucu if weather holds out.
Baldy I nixed
Because of her hammie slip.
She agreed.
Our next hike we'll see.
Sure another adventure it will be!
