It was a beautiful Sat. for this hike and the trailhead parking was full when we arrived at 9 a.m. A lot of big groups, happy people and pups…it was a great energy.
The trail is a wonderful constant climb up, with two very steep (scree filled) sections that are manageable if done slowly and carefully. We saw many people running down portions of the trail and many falls going up and coming back down. I went slow and steady and used my poles and they helped tremendously. The views are astounding for the duration of the hike and especially rewarding after the tough steep climbs to the peak. No peak sign, but I did pose near the tree structure at the top overlooking all the poppies and lupine. Wonderful hike, even for me…afraid of heights. A couple of creek crossings, stayed dry for both. Truly a special hike in it's challenge and views. All the wonderful people we encountered, passed and passed us…were phenomenal and the energy of the day was incredible. Loved every painful moment of this hike
