The trail was impeccably well-maintained with ever-changing types of landscape along the way. We encountered a patch of ice on the trail, which was a nice surprise. Later on we spotted more patches of ice on the grass in the shade. The wind was very strong on the open field at day. You can see the desert and Salton Sea to the east, San Diego mountains to the west and the ocean on a clear day, and incredibly lush green hills dotted with villages at the foot (Julian?). It was my first time on Volcan Mountain, and I fell in love right away!
