Did this after a rainy night camping at William Heise after doing Woodson the previous day. It was cold and very windy, but the sun finally came out and we climbed up. This trail has a weird beauty about it – almost had a battlefield look and feel. The clouds were so low it felt like we walked through them, and after it cleared up, what a view to the Salton Sea and PCT! This is probably the easiest of the challenge, but still not for the faint of heart. The first mile and a half or so is a steep gain, but then it’s smooth sailing.
