After a rainy night of camping, I got a little later start than I wanted to but I got started up Humphreys at about 8am. The lush jungle of a forest as I began to climb put a big smile on my face. Just as I approached the saddle, the steeper climbing and elevation combined to remind me that this is the tallest mountain in Arizona. There was a lot of weather in the high country this weekend and beyond the saddle is known to be hazardous in those conditions. I checked the radar on my phone and went for it. The top of Humphreys did not disappoint. I lingered at the top for quite a while talking with other hikers and soaking in the views. It was truly an amazing experience! This was hike #2 for my Labor Day Weekend challenge of three mountains in three days.
