I decided to go on the Azalea Glen Loop trail to get to the peak (as opposed to going out and back on Lookout Rd). And, after walking down Lookout Rd. on the way back to the car, I am glad I did!
Starting out the trail was pretty flat and easy. The only thing I wish I did differently was downloading the AllTrails app before arriving since the signage wasn't that great. I eventually made it to the Conejos trail from the Azalea Glen Loop trail and started making my way up the peak. This trail was very pretty and was filled with pine trees. You definitely need hiking boots on this side trail because half of it is literally up a stream of water.
Once this trail met with Lookout Rd., it was about a half-mile to the peak. This hill is no joke, but I would recommend to keep walking versus stopping to rest.
Overall, good hike!
