We were a large army of green shirted Boy Scouts on a training hike bearing 20-30lb backpacks. The weather was sunny, not too hot. There were tiny green flying bugs at the trailhead entrance and sporadic horseflies at different points on the trail. There had just been a bear spotting two days before our hike and fresh scat at 1-2 places on the trail. The trails were not terribly crowded. We encountered another large Boy Scout troop and friendly hikers and dogs. This was my first true peak and first time signing a hiking log at the summit! It was a rigorous hike but a memorable challenge. Recommended!!
