Bagged my 2nd peak in the 6 Pack of Peaks 2021 series.
My friend Palmore joined me. First time for both of us hiking Black Mountain. The day was crystal clear and we had huge views. We could see the Pacific Ocean, as well as San Francisco, the entire Silicon Valley, Mount Diablo and Mount Tam!
We took “trail less travelled”, route from an unofficial, yet completely legal trailhead, as suggested on this site. It’s 11.5 miles and 2,800 feet of climbing. We started early on a Sunday morning and saw no one for the first 2 miles. Even at the summit where several trails converge the mountain was not as crowded as I expected plus the wide trail makes social distancing easier. Definitly want to come back and explore more of this park.
