Grateful today for these legs and this body that gets me up mountains. Also grateful for my mind that tells my body to keep going even when my body says it’s too tired. Finally, grateful for hiking friends who, when I say, “Hey, wanna do the 6 pack of peaks with me?” respond, “sure,” even before they know what they’re getting into. 😆
This is probably the hardest peak I’ve done. High Point, 13 miles, 3474 feet of elevation.
The first two miles was a narrow, rocky trail that was a pretty steep climb. The remaining 4.5 miles up was a steady climb with not a lot of flat so you can recover a bit. We thought the way down would be easy because it was all downhill, but the last two miles was that narrow, rocky trail but downhill this time. It was slippery in places, and it was starting to get HOT (it was 93 degrees when we finished). I was so ready to be done! I was never so happy to see my car when we finally reached it. Tomorrow, we rest!
