This was a tough hike and dare I say, was as hard as El Cajon…maybe even harder due to the snow/ice we encountered. I would recommend this trail in the spring after the snow has melted. That would make it easier but it is not an easy trail by far. Its nearly 14 miles and nearly 4,000 ft elevation gain..making it long and grueling. This was our last 6 pack hike to do so we were determined to finish it but I doubted myself at times. It was tough and if you intend on doing this in winter or falling a rainfall, I'd bring clampons or microspikes to help make the trek easier. I fell once on the slippery ice but luckily didnt damage too much. The Oak Grove trail started off nice but had a couple sketchier portions…I wouldnt recommend this hike in the dark as it would be hard to navigate going back. Hard hike but we are glad to be done. Shout out to Lisa, whom we ran into again on the way up! It was great to see you again and Alissa and I wish you happy trails! Hopefully we run into you again soon. 😀
