The trail was quite the hike uphill for just over the first two miles. While the ascent was pretty consistent for the remainder of the hike to the fire tower, it was not nearly as steep as the first couple of miles.
I lucked out with this hike because the weather was cool and rainy. It was perfect for this one! I hiked solo, but who needs a companion when there were swarms of bugs to accompany you the entire way. Definitely need a big net or you’ll hate life! Don’t forget the insect repellent.
Overall, this was a pleasant hike and just shy of 14 miles. I really enjoyed speaking with the fire tower lookout volunteers. They were very knowledgeable and happy to tell you about the history of the tower. Such a great group of volunteers doing an awesome community service! There are cars on portions of this trail so be careful.
