Completed my 5th hike in the San Diego Six Peak Challenge today. The Oak Grove Trail to High Point, which is just over 13 miles. Conditions today were perfect and the bugs usually prevalent on this trail were not bad. The trail was in perfect condition, with no downed trees, water on trail, or mud areas to traverse. During the entire hike up to the High Point Watch Tower (6,140’) you’ll be climbing, although the first two miles on a narrow rocky trail are the most significant challenge, gaining about 1,350 feet of elevation. Afterwards you’ll leave the Oak Grove Trail and enter a wide fire road (DG and dirt) for the gradual climb to the Summit.
Try to get on this trail before the weather heats up, as most of the trail is exposed. Enjoy
