The outstanding pano views on this hike make up for the portion of it you share with vehicles. The first two miles on the oak grove trail is a cool narrow slightly rocky trail. Have a map or AllTrails to help you find the start. You could also take a fireroad the whole way as oak grove trail a pits you out on the fireroad you then follow to the top. Part of the fire road is real in use road. step to the side and let traffic pass and the dust and diesel fumes settle, gaze at the views and don’t let it ruin this trail for you. I went on a Saturday afternoon and saw more SUVs on the trail than people. There were patches of ice and snow, manageable with hiking boots. Also mountain bikes can come around the corner fast, I saw one dude wipe out in the ice.
