This was an afternoon and evening hike. The weather was kind of hot and there were bugs but the bugs weren't as much of an annoyance. It was colder closer to the High Point Lookout tower but I didn't really need to layer up until I reached the lookout tower and summit. On the way back I had to use a headlamp but it was not a problem.
