Perfect day to hit Cuyamaca! Despite a bajillion people (give or take a few thousand) in the parking lot, I only saw about 5 or 6 other hikers.
I took the Azalea Loop trail on the way up. Still traces of snow on the side of the trail, and a lot more creeks to cross. About 1 to 1.5 miles of the Conejos trail is a creek bed. How do I know this? Because the creek was alive and running. It’s shallow enough that you can navigate on the rocks and not get your boots wet.
Took the fire road back down, and remembered my million dollar plan of bringing a wheeled toboggan and charging people $10 for a high-speed trip to the bottom.
